SPF, which is an acronym for Sender Policy Framework, is an email protection system, which is is intended to validate whether an email message is sent by an authorized server. Employing SPF protection for a given domain will prevent the faking of emails created with the domain. In layman's terms: enabling this attribute for a domain name makes a special record in the Domain Name System (DNS) containing the IP of the servers that are allowed to send e-mails from mailboxes under the domain. As soon as this record propagates worldwide, it will exist on all of the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. Every time an e-mail message is sent, the first DNS server it uses tests if it comes from an authorized server. In the event it does, it is forwarded to the destination address, however if it does not originate from a server listed in the SPF record for the particular domain, it's rejected. Thus nobody will be able to mask an email address then make it appear as if you're sending spam messages. This approach is also referred to as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Web Hosting

If you host your domains in a web hosting account with us and we manage the email addresses for them, you are able to enable SPF protection for all of them with a few clicks in your Hepsia Control Panel. This service can be found in a section of its own where you're able to view which domains are currently secured. For those that aren't, you'll be able to activate the SPF protection service and configure a lot of things at the same time - the hostnames of the mail servers that are permitted to send messages from your e-mails, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of the servers, and even to create a rule that emails can be sent only when your domain names use our MX records. The last mentioned choice is the most secure one, and you can use it when we take care of the emails for your domains and you're not using another email provider. The new records will be activated within 24 hours and nobody will be able to forge the FROM field in a message by using your e-mail addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The SPF protection function is featured with all of the semi-dedicated servers, so when you host your domain names in an account on our cloud web hosting platform, you are able to activate this service without difficulty for any of your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with the semi-dedicated accounts, has a really intuitive interface, which means that you won't have to be proficient in the use of computers in order to secure your email addresses. You will only have to type the hostname and the IP address of each mail server that you'd like to be permitted to send e-mails from your addresses and immediately after that the updated record will be activated for the domain name that you have selected. As an additional option, we will also allow you to restrict your outgoing email messages and secure your mailboxes further by permitting e-mail messages to be sent only when the domain name involved features our MX records i.e. the e-mail messages for the domain need to be managed by us and not by a different company. Doing so you'll get even superior control and there won't be a chance for anyone to fake your emails for harmful objectives.
